Counseling Services with Rochalle Rooks, LPC Oregon

Assisting individuals with emotional, cognitive, and behavioral challenges.

Your Counseling Experience Starts Here

The counseling experience is a personal, safe, and joint experience between you and me. The most crucial aspect of our relationship is for you to experience a counselor who is non-judgmental, empathetic, patient, and a good listener. It is with these aspects, listed above, that trust is earned. Research supports that clients are more likely to follow through with treatment recommendations, discuss difficult topics, and develop insight when they trust their therapist and feel supported by them.

As your counselor, you and I will build a person-centered collaborative team to help you heal, change, and grow by identifying strengths and skills and by providing tools that will aid in maintaining mental stability.

During our virtual sessions, we will create a safe and empathic atmosphere of unconditional positive regard and build a sound foundation of trust, mutual respect, and understanding. I will help you in building and establishing a sense of belonging that will help you navigate through dominating mainstream ideas, values, and beliefs not congruent with your daily life.

Areas Of Focus

My areas of focus are self-love, life purpose, addressing communication problems, mood disorders, isolation and loneliness, midlife-crisis, forgiveness, and control issues.
Establishing goals is very important during the counseling session. Goals provide you with a focus and direction that will help me help you. It gives us clarity in where we are and where we need to go. Once you establish your goals during a session, I will assist you with achieving those goals by supporting you in the process.

Author Gerard Egan of “The Skilled Helper” once stated, “Helping is not about ‘fixing,’ it’s about enabling clients to design and redesign their lives positively and according to their best interest”.

Therapeutic Modalities Used

Existential Psychology

Acceptance and commitment therapy

In our work together, we may use a combination of these modalities based on your goals and treatment plan.

As your counselor

My goal is to help you identify the values that are important to you and to work collectively toward your goals. The ultimate goal in our counseling sessions is to bring about positive change in your life. Because of this, I will ask that you work both in and out of counseling sessions.

In some cases, change may occur quickly, however, this depends on each individual, their situations, and how ready they are for change.

As with anything you want to change in life, it will take work and patience.

Specific results are not guaranteed, but, together, we will work to achieve the best possible results for you. We will decide on a therapeutic modality that helps you make progress and achieve the best possible outcome.

The reward of moving closer to who you are and what matters to you will bring more joy, health, and vitality to your life.

That is my goal for you.

After meeting with you, we will collaborate and discuss how you see agree change in your life, which may be accomplished with short-term or long-term therapy.
