Rochalle Rooks,
Licensed Professional Counselor

In 2020, I received my Licensed Professional Counselor certification in Oregon through the National Board of Certified Counselors. I graduated in March 2014 from Capella University located in Minneapolis, Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. While attending college, I made the Dean’s List with High Academic Performance several times and continued my education, after being accepted into the Master of Mental Health Program at Capella University. I completed my master’s degree with distinction in Mental Health Counseling in March 2019. I have been employed in the mental health field since 2010, practicing since my licensure in 2020.

Putting Passion To Work

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?”
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

“Non Nobis Solum.” Not for ourselves alone.
To me, this means that it is in people’s best interests to contribute to the general greater good of humanity, apart from their own interests. This is why I do what I do.

Rochalle’s Experience in the Mental Health Field

Former ACT Team Member
As an employee of Benton County Health Department, I was a member of the Assertive Community Treatment team (ACT) as a qualified mental health professional (QMHP). ACT is an evidence-based practice that provides community-based, multidisciplinary mental health treatment for individuals who suffer from severe mental illness (SMI).

ACT provides treatment, rehabilitation, 24-hour crisis response, symptom assessment and management, medication administration and monitoring, employment services, and support services that individuals need to achieve their goals and live independently in their community. Find out more here.

Mobile Crisis Team Experience
While employed at Benton County Health Department, I worked on the mobile crisis team and completed risk assessments requested by hospital treatment teams, jails, nursing homes, law enforcement, and Emergency medical Service (EMS).

While working as a mobile crisis team counselor, I was certified as a Pre-Commitment Investigator (PSI) and completed assessments, completed monitor trial visits after clients were sentenced to 180-day commitments, assisted community restorations for Guilt-Except Insanity (GEI) clients, and monitored their progress.

Facilitating Group Counseling

I’ve been employed at The Yes House at Milestones Residential Treatment Facility for Youth as a Dual-Diagnosis Counselor, providing substance abuse counseling to adolescents and assisting families in maintaining their adolescents’ sobriety. I provided group educational training and counseling, developed and implemented curriculum for various groups, performed intake and assessments, developed treatment plans, referred treatment to appropriate agencies, and coordinated prevention activities.

Experiences as a Qualified Mental Health Associate

From 2014 to 2019, I was employed at Benton County Health Department as a Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA). I provided treatment services to individuals who suffer from mental health problems, as well as counseling support, group therapy, and case management. In addition to this work, I also provided skills training, life skills development, and skills building to improve clients’ quality of life.

In this position, I coordinated clients’ care with the program treatment team, provided job coach services, and assisted clients with establishing care with a primary care professional (PCP), and provided case management for clients identified to need a comprehensive approach to care.

During my employment as a Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA), I utilized psychological testing platforms for clients as a screening tool to determine the level of service needed to create an individual service plan that will assist the client with meeting their goals during treatment. I have facilitated group therapy for mental health clients, such as anxiety groups, social groups, anger management groups, and Psychiatric Security Review Board (PSRB) groups, and I have provided case management and support for PSRB clients as a PSRB Monitor.

While employed at Alvord-Taylor, Inc, I worked as a Direct Care support personnel for Individuals with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities. I learned strategies to assist clients in managing their mental health symptoms, developed strategies to enhance living skills for the clients I served. I utilized “person-centered thinking,” which is a strength-based model to assist clients in achieving their individual goals, and assisted residents in successfully learning to live with a higher level of independence.
